None. Ours is a one vessel electric, during mash it recirculates from under the grain and back up into mash cylinder. The kettle elements are all we need. Not familiar with herms/rims in terms of flow rates, power settings, etc. I was just pointing out that you could get an off the shelf on demand heater and skip the build.
Hey Medicine Man- We're getting closer to our Upgrade and looking at this again. My current system uses a SMALL HX of about 3gals with a 5500w element and we use an On Demand heater instead of a HLT. It works great for what we have. The new system though, is much bigger. I'm thinking we'll need 11Kw and 10-15gals of water to effect a rapid temp change. I just don't know how much flow OUT of the MT we can get without compacting the mash. Mostly we want to hit MashOut quickly without having the sugar profile change. What luck have you had with this?
