  • 10 bbl heat exchanger, one stage or two stage?

I am getting ready to buy a 10 bbl BH. We will mainly work with ales but on occasion will have a lager or two. I am trying to decide if I need a single stage or 2 stage exchanger with glycol. Our ground water is from a deep well and stays rather stable year round at about 50-54F. I am hoping for KO to take 45 min or less. Can I get away with the Thermaline T8 51 plate exchanger (water only version) or should I spend the extra $3,000 and get the 2 stage?

You might be able to get away with the single stage HX, IF it has multiple passes. Otherwise I highly doubt it will do enough. I've found that with 2 passes and 50F ground water I can do ales without problem but getting anything down to even 60 is not going to happen.
