  • Assistant brewer(s) needed NW New Jersey

We are a small 10 BBL brewery in Northwest New Jersey opening our new location in Hampton Township (Newton Mailing address). We have had our growth limited by the small size of our current location but have built a beautiful new 7000+ square foot building opening in June. We have an immediate opening for an assistant brewer looking to grow with us as we expand into our new building. The position reports to the head brewer and co-owner Heide. With expansion we expect to have need for an additional assistant brewer as well in mid to late Summer. We are willing to train you to brew but ideally the right candidate(s) will be people who at least have homebrewing skills and an understanding of fermentation processes, cross contamination issues, proper cleaning and sanitation. Love of craft beer and attention to the details that ensure a high quality craft beer is produced is a must. We would like you to be, or become, someone we can eventually trust to understand and run the brewing process with limited supervision freeing Heide to run operations and test batch new beers. As with any small company you must be a team player willing to do any and all tasks needed to get the job done, just like us.

    General duties include
    -all brew day operations
    -Washing & filling kegs
    -Tank cleaning
-Keeping dry-storage, cold boxes, brewhouse organized
    -cleaning the brewhouse area
    -occasional coverage for keg delivery
-tasting room once per week to get to know the customers (and the tips are a bonus)
    -bottling/canning packaging
    -forklift driving after certification

    Qualifications
    -science background is a plus
    -homebrewing experience is plus
-Strong work ethic is a must.
-mechanical and electrical skills are a plus
    -Attention to detail.
-Ability to take direction and work independently.
-21 years of age or older.
-Ability to multitask and manage time while being detail oriented.
-Must be able to lift 55 lbs for mashing in regularly and be able to move 160 lb kegs with "relative" ease.
-Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours per day
-Rugby, football, hockey, lacrosse or other contact sport background is a plus (i.e. brewing in a small brewery is a team sport that is hard physical, wet, hot, and sometimes dirty work with lots of heavy objects. No you don't have to have played a contact sport but you can't be afraid of physical work and getting dirty.
