  • Fermenter Dry Hop Yield Losses

was wondering what some of your losses in yield are out there after dry hopping in the fermenter?

how much wort goes into fermenter + amount of dry hop (pellet)
= amount of dry hopped beer transferred out of fermenter

9 barrels go into the fermenter.
    Big Blow off.
    Harvest and drop yeast.
7 pounds of dry hops go in.
7.5 bbls of beer come out.

Current situation- about 102-103 bbls brewed into the fermenter. Lots of blowoff. Medium flocculating yeast. Standard yeast dropping regimen. 120# dry hop charge. Final yield into the bright tank is usually around 85-88 bbls.

experience from another brewery-about 90-93 bbls brewed into the fermenter. No blowoff. Highly flocculating yeast. 100# dry hop charge. Final yield was typically around 76-79 bbls.

another example without a ridiculously huge dry hop charge- about 64-66 bbls brewed into the fermenter. No Blowoff. Highly flocculating yeast. 20-25# dry hop charge (I can't remember exactly). Final filtered bbls was around 55-58 usually.
