  • pipe size for glycol

    Hey all,
I am planning our glycol lines, and am trying to figure out how big the pipes need to be. Our fvs have 3/4 inch connections, and our 5 hp chiller has 1 1/4 inch connections. 20 gallon reservoir of glycol. 4 10 bbl fvs. 35 feet from chiller to the last fv. I have the vol/ft pipe size chart from pro refrigeration, but I don't know how to apply it. With a 20 gallon reservoir do I need to allow for so much extra volume after the pipes and jackets are accounted for? For example the 2 inch pipe holds .1356 gal/ft. My 70 ft (there and back) then holds roughly ten gallons. I need to find out the real number, but say my fvs hold 2 gallons each (the jackets) that makes 18 gallons. Is 2 gallons enough in the reservoir, or am I adding the line and jacket volume to the reservoir once I get hooked up?
    Thanks for any help,
    David
