  • Rakes on a 3.5 or 5 BBL MT/LT?

Would that be overkill on a smaller system in that range? Or still worthwhile, especially if I'm planning on brewing some higher gravity beers on a system designed for 12 Plato?

    Thanks,
    Pete

Definitely an overkill, even at 10BBL it is still overkill. Many 15-20BBL systems don't even have them and are fine without them. At 20BBL+ they start to become a must.

Ditto Dfalken. Way overkill. Use them if you like on 20+ bbl. Worked on a 60bbl mash tun with no rakes and never had a problem. Save your money for other bells/whistles. Good luck!

Double ditto. No rakes under 20+ bbl. Waste of $.
        Cheers!
