Yellowstone Valley Brewing Company in Billings, Montana is looking to fill a brewer position (YVB; http://www.yellowstonevalleybrew.com ). Tasks include all aspects of brewery operations, recipe formulation, and staff management. Marketing, brew fest, and brewer’s dinner support are secondary tasks.
Started in 1997, YVB produces, kegs, and bottles ales in a 15/30 barrel Newlands brewhouse, and wholesalers carry the brand in several western and mid-western states. Tasks include operations at YVB’s Bones Brewing (also in Billings; http://www.bonesbrewing.com ) and participation in YVB’s new Spirit of Montana Distilling (adjacent to YVB; http://spiritofmontana.com ). YVB operates a thriving sample room that proudly hosts dozens of fund-raisers and provides live music by local and touring artists.
Candidates must have the education and/or experience of a head brewer. The extent of both will determine candidate selection. Equipment operation/management, multi-tasking, QA/QC, communications, computer literacy, safety, work ethic and more are essential for YVB’s brewer.
Billings is an economically strong community of about 110,000 people located in the “Banana Belt” of Montana, flanked by mountains and the Yellowstone River Valley. As the largest city en-route north or south between major cities, Billings regularly sees visitors from rural Montana and neighboring states. It is a commerce and tourism hub, and always has one or more events going on. It is also a beer town with six microbreweries. Billings’ geography, climate, access to all outdoor sports and events make it a great place to live!
