  • Wanted: Dry hop funnel.

Anyone know of a stainless funnel with a 2" TC connection? Anyone wanna make one, you could sell 1000. Something like that would make dry hopping and other fv additions easier and more sanitary than a plastic funnel....

Go to your local auto part store and buy a big oil funnel and cut some of the bottom off for the 2" tc.

      Ted,
I started a thread on this a while ago but got no reply. I ended up getting a professional ship builder to weld us one out of 304 stainless. I do agree that someone could make a small fortune making and selling these things. I can snap a photo if you're interested. Good luck.

What about modifying a widemouth stainless canning funnel (like this) with a 2" ferrule.

The opening on these is usually one and a half to two inches anyways.

          Pax.

I have been using a White Labs (Nalgene) 2 Liter bottle we get from yeast. Cut the bottom off. The threaded top fits snug into a 2" port. Not a big 'funnel' to pour into, but I am using a 2 quart beaker and it takes very little time to dry hop. We are adding anywhere between 11-33 pounds into the FV. Works for us, but not ideal. this is on 40bbl fermentors.

              concentric reducer

I use a 4" to 2" stainless concentric reducer. It isn't perfect for the job, but works quite well and is sanitary. We already had it laying around the brewery but you can buy them from multiple sources. Here's one http://www.gwkent.com/reducer-concentric-tc.html

                Funnel Choices

                Mr. Briggs.
Please see attached photos of a funnel I use now, and a quick diagram of another that would be better
for whole hops and pellets with a larger T/C fitting, from 2" to 4". I can fab this out of 16 or 18 G. SS.

A funnel with a 2" trike... that's a big funnel. I agree with the thoughts of getting one fabricated or using a reducer, but to be honest if the hole is 2" I'd be tempted to just buy a stainless bucket with a small spout and tell your cellarpeople to refine their aim.

                    Funnel

What diameter would you want at the top and how tall would you like it? 2" TC on the bottom is good for everyone?

I can work up a price and build a bunch of them if everyone can agree on a size.

Exactly what I ment but need hight and diamiter as some of our tanks are very close to the cealing. Might be better it it was 1/2 as tall, its ok if it only holds a pound or two of hops at a time.
