I work for Lavu iPad POS. We do have a single terminal point of sale that doesn't require an initial license fee. I know you aren't looking for a point of sale with a monthly hosting, but the "Lavu 88" fee is small. First three months is $8. After that it's $88 dollars a month. iPads are fairly inexpensive, and you can probably use your current printers. You can start a 30 day free trial to check out the software. If you have a personal iPad or iPhone you can download the app and look at the software without having to purchase anything.
