  • Glycol reservoir placement question

Where is the best place to position a glycol reservoir? What is everyone else doing? We'd like to position our new reservoir outside to reduce the indoor footprint and free up room for other equipment but are worried about summertime extremes affecting efficiency. Where are your guys' reservoirs placed? Thoughts?

We have ours inside the brewery up against a wall. Our reservoir is not insulated and i'm sure would sweat like crazy outside.

You can stick it outside with the chiller as long as it's well insulated. If it's big enough, insulation isn't that big of a problem, either. Just make sure it can't rain in it :-)

        Glycol Well

If you are planning on growing, a central glycol well is something that can serve you very well indeed. This is especially true if you go for redundancy on your chiller machines.
Even if your satellite machines have self contained wells, you can fill everything from your larger central well when necessary.
I don't go for having the well out of sight. It needs to be where you are going to be walking by and checking level, etc. regular. For this reason its better inside.
