    another thing to try since the vinegar no longer seems to work is to put some of the sweet wort in instead, this works well. you can switch back and forth.

      Getting Rid of Fruit Flies

      Hey there.

      While conventional sprays are questionable and sticky tape does not work that well there are other ways to dispatch the fruit fly pests. You can try some wine in a jar. The flies fall in it or sort of get drunk off the fumes and die. I found an even more thorough method (http://fruitflytraps.com/hometrap.htm) that tells you a clever yet simple way to build your own traps.

      It worked for us - hope it works for you as well!

        Don't rule out the cheap tape traps, I catch gazillions of them creatures at $1.29 for six rolls or so. Put them where the flies hang out. Even put tasty bait at the bottom.
        Even if it doesn't get them all, the tapes put a huge dent in the population.
