Whirlpooling: Pump Curves Make My Head Hurt

    ??? Paddle in the kettle? No no, it's a big stainless steel oar. So we've been giving the kettle a little row row row your wort for a minute or two to help the pump get it all spinning.

    I like the VFD slowdown idea though. Going to go see if ours can do that.

      motor brake

      In theory i like the idea of slowing down the VFD over time...what i did once was set up the VFD on mash kettle paddles to stop after whirlpooling and release the brake on the motor so that the shaft of the paddles can still freely rotate with the flow of the whirlpool while the motor is off. worked pretty well.
