  • Extech DO600 Dissolved Oxygen Meter

    Hi,

Does any of you have experience with Extech DO600 or other low cost dissolved oxygen meters?

It is only for measuring oxygen in the 5-15 PPM range in pre-fermentation wort. Not for packaged product.

    Extech Instruments General

I bought an Extech digital thermometer for a shop I was running in the 90s. It overall was a decent unit.
Later I bought another electrical DIAG. instrument from Extech to replace an old one of mine that had failed. This item proved to have a design flaw in the electronics which was easily seen in the field. Their engineering support did not have enough snap, to see this or do anything about it. So with their product as with so many including Fluke, it may be a roll of the dice if you get something that performs well or does not. My advice is to shake it down well first thing and if it falls short return it for full credit early.

Something like this might be okay to get a guideline of wort oxygenation, but I would be concerned about accuracy/resolution at low levels, ie. anywhere post-fermentation.
