  • Boiler question.

My potential landlord is placing a solar array on the roof of the warehouse I might use that would provide 180 degree water to the HLT. I have a 15 bbl brewhouse, would I still
require a 15-20 bhp boiler to bring the kettle to a boil or would a smaller boiler be more efficient/sufficient? Along the same thought would an electric boiler be a thought since also getting
power from the same array. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Your kettle and brewhouse steam systems should be closed systems, so there is no advantage to pre-heated water. For the HL system, great advantage. You're already at temp, you just need to keep it hot--except at night and in winter, so you still need a full HL heating system.
