BJ's Restaurants & Brewhouse is looking for a Head Brewer
Purpose:
The Head Brewer is responsible for every aspect of the Gold Standard operation and maintenance of the brewery, and managing close to 3000 barrels of production annually.
Areas of Responsibility:
• Recipe development
• Brewing exacting recipes to spec
• Filtering on a vertical leaf DE filter
• Quality Assurance using a microscope, density meter, a pH meter, spectrophotometer, Luminester, anaerobic plating and sensory
• Cleaning and sanitation of all equipment in the brewery
• Yeast management and propagation
• Tank management
• Troubleshooting
• Technical maintenance
• Ordering of raw materials
• Receiving deliveries
• Monthly detailed inventory
• Weekly AR and AP accounting
• Mentoring of team members
• Supporting and interfacing with restaurant management
• To impart knowledge about beer and brewing to our guests and team members
• Cutting controllable costs and maintaining a profitable brewery
• Use of proper and safe chemical handling techniques
• Daily cleaning and upkeep of appearance in brewery
• Safety Protocols and OSHA compliance
• Representing BJ’s at beer events
Requirements:
• At least one year of comparable brewing experience in a craft brewery
• Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly and safely
• Comfortable working inside confined spaces and from elevated platforms and ladders, using fall limiters and harnesses
• Employees must be able to work as a team doing any and all aspects of the process to assist each other in executing the tasks in an efficient manner
• Flexibility with work hours and availability is a must
