Job Title: Head Brewer
Location: EaDo Beerworks, Houston (eado-beerworks.com)
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Summary: We’re looking for a head brewer who has experience using commercial-scale brewing equipment (15 bbl+), and who possesses a creative brain and a positive attitude to become an important member of the growing craft beer movement in Texas.
Timing for this position is approximately 9 mos – 1 year with brewing operations likely beginning in August 2015.
The person selected for this position will assist in designing and installing our 15 bbl brewing system (4-30 bbl fermenters) and you will have freedom to design recipes and refine our collection. We will also acquire a 3.5 bbl pilot system that will keep our taproom supplied with a range of experimental, seasonal, and exotic brews so there will always be room for experimentation and expanding and transforming our product line.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage efficient running of brewery operations on a day-to-day basis
- Consistently brew high-quality beers
- Work closely with EaDo Beerworks marketing staff to create beers for our markets
- Report to and advise the board and management on all aspects of brewery operations
- Work with EaDo Beerworks management to provide accurate forecasting of all brewery costs
- Work closely with colleagues to negotiate the best possible raw ingredients pricing
- Consistently reinforce quality across all brewing processes
- Represent brewery at local and national level when needed
- Cleaning and sanitation of fermentation vessels and bright tanks
- Coordinate and manage CIP systems with other staff members
- Yeast handling, including cell counts and pitching
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures
Minimum qualifications:
- At least two years of commercial brewing experience w/ minimum of 600 bbl annual volume
- Some experience can be substituted for educational credentials from an accredited brewing school
- Experience as an assistant brewer will be considered but NOT positions in cellaring and packaging, etc. – must have experience in brewing
- Ability to lead brewing operations, including
- Recipe development
- Inventory management
- Materials/inputs ordering, vendor and contract management
- Yeast propagation and management
- Experience with brewery cleaning and sanitation
- Equipment maintenance knowledge and experience
- Ability to identify and correct beer production
- Quality control
- Willingness to work as a team
- Commitment to data-driven decision making
- Good attitude and willingness to work hard
- Organized and self-driven
