  • Dry Hopping/Filtration Issues

We have been dry hopping through a 6" port on top of our 30bbl conical ferms as soon as the beer passes forced VDK test. Hold at 65f for three days, then crash for seven days.
We use a plate and frame filter. when we are near the end of transfer to the BBT, we pull a huge slug of hops through the filter and it packs the plates. we are using a racking arm. seems like the hops are floating on the top of the beer in the ferm and never really drop to the bottom. Thinking of hooking up CO2 to the racking arm a couple days into dry hopping to see if I can agitate the hops so they drop.
Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

You could rack into another tank to decrease the hop load in the tank prior to filtration. I can't imagine that blowing CO2 into solution would be very useful.
