  • Small Capacity CIP/Keg Cleaning Station Build

    Hello,

I am researching methods and designs for a DIY cleaning/sanitizing cart that would serve as CIP station for 1 to 3 barrel tanks. I would also like to use this cart for manual keg washing.

I have read applicable information previously posted on this forum and from that have a general idea of what others have done.

Any and all information, experience, advise, and pics would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    a keg and a pump

For the fermenters and the brite tank we just use a pump and a keg on casters with the top cut out and a 90 degree elbow welded on the bottom with a tricolor valve.

For that size, we use between 3-5 gallons of PBW mix (1oz per gallon) and use a 3 way valve on the pump to a spray ball on top. Switch the 3 way valve to recirculate from the tank. 15 minutes later use a 3 way on the output or disconnect the spray ball hose to pump out. Same for fresh water and saniclean cycle.

To make it a keg cleaner and/or to heat the liquid you'll need a manifold and add a RANCO and a heating element to the keg.

We call the keg- CIP3O (ala Star Wars)

              Well this is pretty straightforward-

I'll try to take a photo of the pump set up with the 2 3-way valves for cleaning the brite tank when I get a chance.

Its a lot more flexible to not hard mount the pump on a cart with the tank. Just the other day the brewery pump went out and I had to finish the brew with this pump.

This is the setup for cleaning the brite tank. The keg is on the other side of the walk in that we use to fill with rinse/cleaner/rinse/sanitizer

By changing one 3 way valve and two hoses this is the setup to carbonate...

You add a manifold to the upper 3 way valve and two keg fillers and you fill the kegs from the bottom.
