Union Craft Brewing, located in beautiful picturesque Baltimore, Maryland, is looking to hire a lab tech/celar person. We are looking for someone with a high attention to detail that is self-motivated and has a desire to be a part of a fun, hard-working crew. We would prefer someone with lab/science background that can feels at home around a microscope.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Proficiently operate laboratory equipment including: Gahaltemeter, pH meter, microscope, etc.
• Flexibility to work a rotating schedule based on production and packaging needs.
• Communicate effectively with fellow team members to ensure proper working environment.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, word and other current software.
• Perform Cellar duties including but not limited to: Yeast management, dry hopping, CIP, gravities and cleaning
• Work festival and events
• Perform daily maintenance and cleaning
• Assist with barrel program and filling firkins when needed
• Perform sensory analysis.
• Maintain a clean working environment in all work areas, specifically the lab, cellar and parts maintenance area.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Looking for someone with a strong science background preferably with lab experience
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• High attention to detail
• Self motivated with the ability to multitask
• Ability to work in brewery conditions that can be: hot, cold, wet, tight and dirty
• Ability to lift 55 pounds over and over again
• Required to work with hazardous chemicals
• Degree in Chemistry/ Microbiology or Food Science preferred
• Some brewery experience preferred but not required
