    Garage Brewing Co. in Murrieta, CA, is seeking an experienced individual to establish a formal quality assurance, quality control & quality improvement program in our new production brewery (operational as of Feb of 2016). This is a state of the art, modern (ground up) facility, air conditioned and heated.
    30 BBL Brew house (manufactured in USA) complete with canning & bottling lines.
    In this role, you will lead the development of standard operating procedures for the lab.
    Support the Brewmaster in the development, implementation and execution of quality assurance programs.
    Implement procedures to assure consistent quality while striving to contain costs.
    Drive company quality metrics within the organization utilizing continuous improvement tools and strategies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB DESCRIPTION
    • Train & validate team on aseptic sampling procedure, sanitation practices & in-line testing
    • Collect, maintain, compile & present quality related data, including departmental proficiency
    • Assist to identify critical control points & drive overall process control & improvement
    • Communicate consistency issues with brewery management re: quality assurance
    • Advocate & promote continuous quality & safety improvement
    • Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems related to product or equipment
    • Attend meetings & brewery functions as required
    • Positive attitude with an ongoing sense of urgency
    • Strong ability to teach, mentor & motivate all types of individuals
    • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
    • Gather & analyze data and prepare reports-related data to brewing process
    • Communicate with brewery staff to ensure consistent, high quality product & efficient release of packaged beer
    • Perform quality assurance testing on raw materials
    • Perform chemical & microbial analysis of water, wort, yeast, beer & brewery environment
    • Collect samples from the brewery at various stages in the brewing process
    • Records, organizes and analyzes all yeast/fermentation product and packaged product
    • Ability to make decisions about yeast related issues
    • Trains, organizes & conducts sensory panels on packaged beer and brewing water analysis
    • Assist with HAACP program implementation & auditing
    • Assist with other brewery functions as needed, included but not limited to brewing, cellaring, filtration, racking, packaging, cleaning
    • Maintain & organize beer returns
    • Investigate customer feedback & communicate with management
    • Establish & maintain beer library

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • BACHELORS DEGREE in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Technology
    • Knowledge of laboratory instruments, operation & calibration
    • Good time management, math & communication skills required
    • Prior experience in brewing analysis environment strongly preferred
    • Recognized formal brewing education a plus

    This is a 40 hour Monday-Friday position with occasional OT.
    Wages will commensurate with experience.
    Reimbursement of ongoing education expenses, including seminar attendance (paid time off), plus profit sharing opportunities.
