We are building an energetic, motivated and creative brewing team at the Bavarian Bierhaus near Milwaukee, WI. This is a new startup brewery/restaurant focusing primarily on German beer and cuisine. We have a 15 bbl brewhouse and look to produce 2000 bbls a year.
Job description:
The assistant brewer will be working directly with the Brewmaster as well as other team members and will have responsibilities in all areas of brewing operations. Join one of Milwaukee areas newest microbreweries and be a part of an exciting venture.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist with brewhouse operations (i.e. milling, mashing, lautering, boiling and transfers, etc.)
• Ensuring that the paper work is done accurately and on time
• Yeast management (harvesting, pitching and viabilities)
• Tank management (gravity checks, trub dumps and dry-hopping)
• CIP/Sanitization on all vessels (fermenters, heat exchanger, mash/lauter tun, kettle, and brite beer tanks)
• Troubleshooting, technical maintenance and quality assurance
• Receiving and storing deliveries properly
• Maintain an inventory of raw materials, brewery supplies and kegs
• Kegging
• The continual development of one's own knowledge about beer and brewing
• Cleaning and then more cleaning
Skills and requirements:
• STRONG work ethic and a passion to excel
• 2 years plus experience
• Formal brewing training and degree a plus
• Strong knowledge of the brewing fundamentals and processes
• Home Brewing experience a bonus
• Cleanliness
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage one's time, work in an efficient manner and interact with other team members effectively and professionally
• Requires the ability to work in a fast paced, wet, loud production environment on one's feet for most of the day and repeatedly lift 55lbs
• Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work overtime with occasional nights during double brew days and weekends
• Represent the brewery at beer festivals and other events
