  • Regulating water pressure for keg washer w/ peristaltic pump for sanitizer

    Folks,

Our Premier keg washer sanitizes kegs by pulling from a reservoir of sanitizer and then mixing it with incoming city water. We've recently realized that our water pressure can vary greatly if we're filling liquor tanks during brewing, or even from the dishwasher in the taproom.

I'm imagining a pressure tank, like on a well, with some pressure gauges and a check valve would help even this out, but I'm looking for feedback.

    Any thoughts?

We simply fill a keg with a pre mixed sani solution. Hook the keg outlet to the sani inlet on the washer and co2 pressure on the keg. guaranteed correct sani mixture. The only downside is that you have to stop keg washing and refill the sani keg every so often.

Thats a great idea. Way to be creative.

The pressure tank idea would work fine, as long as it's big enough. Figure two to three times the rinse volume.

Rig it water main> check valve/backflow preventer> tank> regulator> keg washer. Be sure your regulator is rated for domestic potable water, with a bronze or SS body, and has the proper flow rate/pressure for your needs.

Do you mean a regulator to control the pressure in the tank?

No, the regulator controls the water pressure from the tank--this will allow you to run at a constant pressure, as long as the output regulator is set a little lower than the average pressure going in. It's just another example of a surge tank, for water this time.

Or why not just get a water pressure regulator? It can only regulate the pressure down, of course. But set it for 30 psi or so and set the correct dosing rate for the peristaltic pump.
