  • Brewhouse install questions

    A couple of quick questions:

    1) Does anyone want to share (ballpark) what they paid to install a 10bbl direct-fire brewhouse?

    2) Related to #1, was anyone required (or did anyone choose) to supply make-up air to a 400-500k BTU natural gas burner (for the above brewhouse kettle)? Our brewing area is roughly 1,000 sqft with 10' ceilings. Don't want to pay for something we don't need, but also don't want to want to say no to something beneficial(?) just because it's not required.

In regards to #2, that is a question for your mechanical engineer who will be doing the plumbing drawings for you. In most instances, you will need to have a supply of combustion air in order to also have good combustion and adequate venting of the flue gasses. As for question #1, it really depends, I did the installation myself, saved a lot of money doing it that way, but probably still spent $10k to set up all the utilities for the equipment, examples are the 100+ foot of 3" gas pipe, water pipe, electrical disconnects, wiring, equipment rental to move the brew house.
