Five Boroughs Brewing Co. is a New York City brewery and taproom opening soon in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. We produce high-quality craft beers that embody the dynamic spirit of New York City, a place where aspirations are limited only by what you are able to brew up in your head. Five Boroughs Brewing Co. aims to celebrate and encourage the exploration of craft beer and all the wonders the five boroughs of New York City have to offer. Although we’re only just starting to produce and package beer in the heart of Sunset Park, the Five Boroughs brewery and taproom will also serve as a full-scale events space.
We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Assistant Brewer to join our startup brewery in the greater New York City area. The new Five Boroughs team member will be instrumental in helping us build a community where all New Yorkers can celebrate what makes this city incredible over great craft beer. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to join a brewery on the ground level and assist in bringing that brewery to life!
Duties will include:
• All elements of brewhouse operations that include, but are not limited to: grain handling, wort production, spent grain handling, wort cooling, general maintenance and cleaning
• All elements of cellar operations that include, but are not limited to: operation of DE filter, beer transfers, dry hopping, carbonation, tank cleaning and sanitation, general maintenance and cleaning
• All elements of packaging operations that include, but are not limited to: keg cleaning and filling, can filling operations, carbonation, general maintenance and cleaning
• Maintaining the safety and effective operation of brewery equipment and other related machinery
• Assisting Quality Management staff with fermentation management operations and sampling tanks in accordance with the Quality Management Plan.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, lift 55 pounds repeatedly, and move up to 165 pounds
• Driving a forklift, operating pallet jacks and hand trucks and assisting with shipping/receiving of raw materials and equipment
The ideal candidate will have:
• University degree in a related field (Brewing, Biology, Chemistry, etc)
• Minimum of 1-year experience in a beer production facility
• Collaborative spirit with a hands-on attitude and a strong work ethic
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Experience operating canning and kegging equipment
• Must be at least 21 years of age
