Purpose of Role
The Accountant will assist and be responsible for the financial reporting of the company. In addition, the accountant is expected to lead the organization through policy and procedures, implementation and adherence. This position fosters the financial well-being of the company by delivering the required financial reporting in order to make accurate business decisions and support the operations team to achieve their goals and that of the company. The role will eventually evolve into a Controller/CFO position for the successful candidate. The role will include, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
• Analyze and present accurate period end financial statements to Managing Director
• Remit GST/HST & Excise payments and filings
• Input all expense reports
• Oversee and monitor wires and EFT payments & banking activities
• Oversee and ensure accuracy of reconciliation of all accounts
• Maintain all financial records of the company, keep accounting up to date, file returns, and prepare year end.
• Provide support and direction to all staff on the proper bookkeeping procedures
• Process payroll year ends including T4 filing and summaries
• Work hand in hand with Managing Director to fulfill banking needs
• Develop finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction.
• Works closely with the Managing Director to ensure all accounting policies and initiatives are being executed
• Attend relevant seminars that would be applicable to our operations
• Remains alert to, and interested in, developments in the brewing industry
• Brings ideas that may be of interest to the company to the attention of the ownership and operations team
• Provides support for and performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Managing Director from time to time.
• Has a hands on approach to tasks given to ensure the main goal is for the best results for the company
Qualifications:
• Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role
• CA (CPA), CMA, CGA required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Experience with OrchestratedBEER an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
• Ability to work well with a team but can also work effectively without supervision and has a well-developed sense of business acumen
• Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and to ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience
• Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Outgoing personality with a sense of humour
• Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
• Beer Industry experience would be an asset
• Ability to exercise good judgment & show initiative
