Like has been said, it’s the acoustics you want to address, not sound proofing.
Hard, reflective surfaces are your enemy, parallel opposing walls or surfaces are your enemy.
Anything that can break up a big flat reflective surface will help, even if it’s not absorbative.
An opening, a large open window or bay door for example can greatly help too
