  • What's your favorite yeast harvesting container?

We will likely be storing yeast for no more than 1-3 days, and in most cases pitching same day. I want a better solution than my current setup. We have used corny kegs, standard sanke kegs, and even the bucket trick. none are great.

    What's your favorite?

Sabco Bright Tank keg with all the fittings?

    GW?
Our ½ barrel keg is perfect for storing enough yeast for pitching into a 10 barrel batch of beer. Made from a brand new 15.5 gallon stainless steel keg without a Sankey spear in it. The top has a 4” TC ferrule making it easy to fill and clean. The side of the keg has a 1-1/2” TC ferrule welded as close to the bottom as possible. All welds are sanitary and polished. Included is a 4” by 1-1/2” TC end cap reducer and a 4” TC clamp and a 4” EPDM gasket. Great for yeast storage, wine for barrel topping and also for storage of almost anything. The solid stainless steel construction makes this a versatile and almost indestructible container. Certainly safer and easier to move around than a glass carboy.

Deutsche makes one too I think.

    Hit me!!

That Sabco one looks awfully nice, but not sure how I feel about using a sanke coupler. I've used both the Kent and the DBT models, which are basically identical and most certainly work well, especially for the price. Just throw on a couple butterflies, a sightglass, maybe a PRV, and you're good to go.

I got one of these, and like it quite a bit. We can pressurize it to about 4-5 psi, which can transfer yeast into the bottom of a pretty tall, full fermenter pretty easily. It's standard tri clamps so very easy to tear down. Even has a thermowell.

        Ferm Flask

        Hello,
We´re using the Ferm Flask from Wihte Labs / Sabco. It´s really nice. https://www.brewmagic.com/products/w...lask-by-sabco/
Easy to use and clean. Hit me up if you have any questions.

          Yeast Harvesting Container

At the brewery I'm at we just use a trash bin similar to those big grey brute ones you guys use in the States but these are smaller white trash bins.

We are also on our 610th generation of our yeast!

          Cheers,

          Dan

Go for tall and skinny. Your main concern is keeping that yeast in the middle cold..

Are you pumping the wort through them or just pushing it through with co2?

I pump the wort thru it the inlet on the bottom is a 90 so the wort spins thru to the outlet. I have used these for a bit over a year now with great results
