    Beaver Island Brewing Company is an expanding 15 BBL microbrewery in Downtown Saint Cloud, MN. We will be opening a 30BBL production facility in East Saint Cloud in the Spring of 2017 that will focus mainly as a canning facility. We are currently seeking part-time and full-time brewers, cellar people and packaging specialists who can carry out a wide range of brewing related tasks. These positions are responsible for performing an array of brewing, cellaring, packaging, CIP’ing and other general cleaning and maintenance of brewing and packaging equipment. These positions require a general knowledge of brewing and will require flexibility in what jobs will be performed. We will train these individuals on the processes of our existing equipment as well as our incoming brew house. Ideally, these candidates will have prior brewing experience and most importantly, have a strong desire to further and better their knowledge and interest in brewing.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Learn and carry out the entire brewing process on our 15BBL and 30BBL Brewhouses
    • Have the ability to track and record data throughout the brewing process
    • Must maintain a strong sense of focus and care while carrying out daily tasks
    • An ability to troubleshoot issues and have mechanical skills to maintain brewing equipment
    • Assist in the cleaning and filling of kegs when needed
    • Keep close track of incoming empty cooperage as well as full outgoing cooperage
    • Assist and carry out tasks of CIP’ing both the brewhouse and cellar side of the brewery and perform these tasks with safety as the number one concern.
    • Monitor daily fermentation by reading and logging gravities, pH, yeast cell density, and temperature of beer
    • Assist in the implementation and documentation of SOPs as they relate to brewing, cellar and packaging operations
    • Maintain and evaluate cleanliness and functionality of all gaskets, valves and tank fittings
    • Transferring and filtering of beer to brite tanks, tank to tank transfers of yeast and other general transferring of liquids between vessels
    • Filtering of beer through plate and frame filter or centrifuge.
    • Carbonating beer through carbonation stone or in line carbonation skid
    • Evaluate the process of fermenting and fermented beer for dry hopping, crashing and yeast harvesting
    • Maintain a sanitary environment
    • Keep and maintain packaging records
    • CIP canning line and kegging equipment
    • Train new canning line and kegging personnel in proper machine operation and safety procedures
    • Recognize short fills and improperly filled/packaged product by use of scales
    • Organize inventory of full and empty cooperage (kegs), finished beer, bulk cans, can trays, can lids, and all other packaging related supplies


    Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Skill Sets:

    • Operate a forklift
    • Have a general knowledge of boiler operation
    • Enthusiastically participate in brewery related events while maintaining professionalism and positive representation of the brewery
    • Conduct occasional tours and interact with general public
    • Sensory analysis of beers at multiple stages of brewing process


    Position Requirements:

    • Formal Brewing education a plus but not required
    • Experience in either a brewpub or production brewery and must demonstrate a general understanding of the brewing process and related equipment
    • Basic lab skills with understanding of QA and QC tests and best practices
    • Attention to detail and safety
    • Able to work in a team environment, work well with others and take direction
    • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Be self-motivated and have the ability to keep busy
    • Mechanical knowledge and skills a plus
    • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently without loss of attention to quality
    • Flexible schedule both hours of availability and days of week and weekends
    • Must be able to repeatedly stretch, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull, stand, walk for duration of the shift, lift 55+ pounds
    • Work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and sometimes moderately loud environments
