Highway 1 Brewing Company, located in Pescadero, CA, is seeking a full-time experienced Brewer.
Job Summary
This position involves all aspects of working in a brewpub including wort production, fermentation, transfers, and yeast management. The Brewer will also have the ability to develop recipes, firkins and barrel aged beers. However, a strong repertoire in west coast-style IPAs is essential. The right candidate will be safety-minded, efficient, quality-focused, have a great work ethic, a positive attitude and be part of the team.*
Duties and Responsibilities
• Brewing, transferring and cellaring beer
• CIP tanks, cellar equipment and brewhouse
• Harvest, pitch and manage yeast
• Dry-hop and fine beers
• Perform yeast cell counts
• Mill and stage recipes accurately
• Maintain workplace safety while upholding quality standards
• Continually lift, drag, carry and manipulate hoses, parts, pumps, buckets and reservoirs
• Maintain accurate and legible records
• Sanitation of all beer contact surfaces and equipment
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
• 2+ years brewery experience
• Has a passion for quality beer.
• Can work in a team environment as a leader and problem solver.
• Is capable of drawing on past experience to provide valuable input in a rapidly growing brewery.
• Possess a mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
• Need to be self-motivated
• Ability to multitask and manage time while being detail oriented
• Flexible schedule
• Reliable transportation
Physical requirements
Our Brewer must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, stand for the duration of a shift, lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds repeatedly. Requires proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex machinery. Good communication skills.
We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. We are only considering applicants with professional experience in a brewery at this time. Pay is determined on experience.
