The Quality Lab Technician will perform routine testing and analysis of product which includes water, wort, beer and raw materials throughout the brewing and packaging process. Experience in quality assurance or quality control in a production environment is desired and being a positive, self-motivated team player is a must. This opening is for our Mills River, NC location.
DUTIES

Accurately analyzes in-process and finished products; appropriately escalates out of specification results/trends and initiates corrective action
Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, product specifications, and quality procedures; completes tasks thoroughly and accurately to ensure compliance with quality standards
Calibrates, maintains and repairs equipment to ensure instruments are operational and reliable
Participates in production (brewing & packaging) processes, delivering superior internal customer service; isolates and contains product that does not meet quality standards
Comfortably shifts gears and adapts to change, makes timely, thoughtful decisions; isn’t upset when things are up in the air
Supports our enduring vision to sustainably operate and grow one of the best and most respected craft breweries
Demonstrates and understands safety as a core value, complies with all safety instructions, observes safe work practices, provides input on safety issues and promotes a safe work environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in science, analytical, or food related discipline or an equivalent amount of lab experience required
Previous experience in a brewery or manufacturing environment is desired
Previous experience in some or most of the following areas:
Food/beverage microbiology & analytics
Glass/packaging material quality & integrity testing
Development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Food/beverage sanitation
Independent work & teamwork
Gas chromatography
Sensory science
Startups or greenfields
Previous experience developing or implementing the following:
Workflow optimization
Root cause analysis or other complex problem solving techniques
Behavioral based safety & chemical hygiene
Statistical process control (SPC)
HACCP, internal audits, and good manufacturing practices (FSMA, cGMP)
Continuous improvement
Design of experiment (DOE)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Able to successfully learn and perform the duties outlined above; must have strong attention to detail
Skilled in data analysis and communication, organized, and respectful at all times; prioritizes must before wants
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and be able to differentiate color
Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time
Must be able to lift 35 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics

This is a full-time position which requires scheduling flexibility to work rotating shifts covering 7 days a week; shifts include coverage for weekends and nights
