    JOB TITLE: Materials & Inventory Control Manager
    LOCATION: Brewery, Comstock, MI
    REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager
    FLSA POSITION TYPE: Full- Time, Salaried Exempt
    EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 01/10/2017- 01/29/2017

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Materials & Inventory Control Manager will integrate activities related to materials starting with the recognition of need for materials to the shipment of beer. Responsible for overseeing material planning and control, purchasing, inventory control, and intra-Brewery materials movements, including select raw materials (hops and malt).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery, Inc., and is accountable for the safety of their department.
    •Successfully builds rapport, respect and camaraderie, both inter- and intra-departmentally, through exceptional coaching, and, teambuilding.
    •Develops and implements training programs for Materials and Inventory Control Team.
    •Mentors and develops department staff.
    •Works with HR team to recruit, select and hire staff.
    •Works closely with Supply Chain Manager and HR to address developing personnel concerns.
    •Leads meetings of direct reports to ensure effective communication throughout the department and company as a whole.
    •Advocates a continuous improvement culture.
    •Oversees and manages beer returns process.
    •Manages material purchases based on sales forecasts, depletions, and distributor demand, including estimating short and long term requirements, forecasting inventory levels, scheduling orders, and monitoring overall plan performance.
    •Ensures a consistent flow of materials throughout the brewery, actively seeking methods that provide timely releases to suppliers, reduce inventory adjustments, prevent production shortages, and delayed external freight movements.
    •Develops strategies, instructions, and procedures for acquiring materials and supplies, including packaging materials, raw materials, equipment, and miscellaneous items.
    •Develops inventory methods, practices, and standard operating procedures that benefit inventory control accuracy and first-in-first-out (FIFO) convention.
    •Ensures accurate documentation of all raw materials, internal finished beer inventory movements, and outgoing inventory.
    •Manages setting of inventory levels, including determination of Economic Order Quantities (EOQ), setting Safety Stocks, and accurate lead times for materials.
    •Oversees monthly inventory processes with finished goods (beer) and raw materials (hops and malt).
    •Creates, develops, and manages selection process of potential vendors and suppliers.
    •Manages acquisition of materials, ensuring the right quality, quantity, time, source, and price.
    •Manages receipts, materials cycle counts, and inventory levels within the Microsoft AX environment, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
    •Develops and manages internal materials order system to service production needs throughout the Brewery.
    •Partners with Logistics Department (Receiving Functions) to integrate well-timed inbound deliveries and coordinated planning of storage space in the Brewery.
    •Oversees inventory and transfer of materials to and from the Logistics Center and other contract warehouses.
    •Manages annual purchase of new kegs, including inbound timing, break bulk, finishing, and storage.
    •Creates and oversees standards of material inspection and quality control functions upon arrival of materials at the Brewery.
    •Establishes and presents key performance indicators related to depletion/replenishment of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods inventory turnover.
    •Implements and stays informed on industry best practices related to materials and inventory control.
    •Conducts vendors and supplier site visits, as needed.
    •Flexible schedule required for end of month inventory and support of Packaging lines.

    Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

    MANAGERIAL/LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Four (4) direct reports (Procurement Lead, Logistics Operations Coordinator, Packaging Materials Specialist, and Brewing Materials Coordinator).

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
    •Must possess a valid driver’s license
    •Access to a personal vehicle.

    IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    •Exceptional leadership skills.
    •Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively address diverse groups.
    •Strong computer skills, including Microsoft AX.
    •An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards who will positively represent Bell’s Brewery both internally and externally.
    •A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
    •Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work load to balance multiple projects
    •A demonstrated ability to assess priorities effectively.
    •Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
    •Experience in a production packaging environment with an understanding of lock-out/tag-out and other core safety issues.
    •Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to trouble shoot meticulous tasks.
    •Ability to coordinate with other departments according to schedule.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
    •A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent expertise in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Integrated Supply Management, Materials Management, Business, Management, or Statistics.
    •5-7 years Management/Leadership experience, preferably in a warehouse or production setting.
    •Industry experience preferred.
    •Experience working with Microsoft- AX
    •Moderate level of craft beer product knowledge is a plus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    •Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional trips to operational areas required.
    •The employee frequently must work in a sanitary environment.
    •The noise level in certain parts of the brewery is occasionally loud (80-90 dB).
    •The employee regularly works around high voltage, flame, hot water, and steam.
    •The employee regularly works with hazardous materials.
    •The employee works near moving mechanical parts.
    •The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment.
