Rock Art Brewery is one of Vermont’s oldest craft beer breweries, celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2017. We are currently enhancing and expanding our brewery, and are on track for further growth in 2017. We brew some of the highest rated craft beers in Vermont, including some of our more recent 16oz can offerings such as our Double IPA’s Limited Access and Twin Tip®. We also have brews that are steeped in Vermont craft beer history like our Ridge Runner Bold Vermont Ale, and our Vermonster Barley Wine.
We are looking for a motivated, conscientious, and dedicated person with knowledge of the brewing process and prior experience working in a brewery environment, to join our team and help brew our great beers as we continue our growth.
The assistant brewer will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include mashing/wort production, staging brewing ingredients, yeast management, cellar operations, keg cleaning and filling, brew system cleaning, raw material management, and other miscellaneous but essential brewery operations. The assistant brewer may also be called upon to assist in our tasting room, attend brew festivals, and talk with our customers and tour groups.
Requirements:
• 1 year prior experience working in a professional brewing environment in cellar operations, assistant brewer, or brewer, or brewing education/certification from a professional brewing school.
• Ability to assess beers for quality, and discern key ingredients
• General understanding of managing inventories and raw materials
• Proven ability to follow specific sets of procedures in a very detail-oriented manner
• Ability to work safely and handle hazardous chemicals in a safe manner
• Ability to lift 50-60 lb bags of grain and other similar heavy objects
• A positive attitude, effective communication skills, and strong problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively on a small team
• Fork lift and warehousing skills a plus.
• Local applicants a plus.
Pay is hourly and will be based on experience.
