Standard Brewing is seeking a full time brewer. Our 7 bbl brewhouse brings with it an opportunity to brew a diverse set of styles, and our tiny crew is a tight family. We’ve grown organically and have plans to continue that growth in exciting ways that challenge brewing staff and engage our growing local community directly. We are looking for the right combination of personality traits with experience, reliability and a strong work ethic. Hours for this position are variable, though start times are typically early. We brew both mixed culture and clean beers, so having experience in both styles is ideal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Wort production
Beer transfers
Cleaning of all vessels and equipment
Maintain draft systems
Keg cleaning and filling
Dry hopping, carbonation, and fining of beer
Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have no less than 2 years professional brewing experience
Any candidate must have at least 1 year of professional brewing experience or professional brewing education
Must have a strong curiosity for brewing theory and be engaged in continuous brewing research
Must be autodidactic and have strong observational skills, capable of troubleshooting well
Must learn quickly and feel comfortable working efficiently while maintaining safe working habits
Must be an excellent multi-tasker with strong attention to detail
Must be able to receive criticism and modify behavior as needed
Must be able to lift 55 lb grain sacks up a flight of stairs and manipulate 160 lb kegs without injury
Must have an exceptional palate, able to recognize and describe beer flavors and off-flavors
Must have mechanical skills and be quick and fluid with tri-clamp fittings
Must have a positive attitude and find brewing intrinsically rewarding
Must have basic lab skills
Must have basic computing skills and understand how to use spreadsheets
Must not be plagued by strong or offensive odors on a regular basis
