Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is hiring an Assistant Brewer for our projected opening in August-September 2017. This would be a part time position with the option of additional hours as part of our bartending and brewpub staff, but that is by no means mandatory. The position can be transitioned to full time depending on the business needs and ability of the Assistant Brewer to become more independent in their tasks. Brewing experience is preferred but not required, we will train the right candidate.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is a new brewpub opening at the end of this summer. We have a 3 vessel 20 BBL brew house, 20 BBL Fermenters, two 10 BBL Foeders, and are excited to bring an array of beer styles to the Northeast Pennsylvania region.
Optional but preferred qualities:
• 1 year of experience in a brewery environment (packaging, brewing, lab, etc.)
• Formal brewing education
• Beer serving and customer service experience
• Knowledge of beer styles and sensory
Required Skills and abilities :
• Ability to support day-to-day activities necessary in wort and beer production.
• Be able to lift 55lbs+ repeatedly.
• Be able to work on your feet for prolonged amounts of time.
• Have an understanding of safe work practices and the use of PPE.
• Maintain a flexible schedule including early mornings.
• Ability to accurately keep records.
• Ability to follow standard brewery operating procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Self-motivated with good time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Docs, and technology.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work space.
Tasks including but not limited to:
• Assisting on brew days (Handling grain, weighing hops, recording data, learning the brewing process)
• Keg filling and cleaning
• Tank CIP's
• Cleaning of all brewery surfaces and equipment
• Data entry and recording
• Giving brewery tours and working brewery events
