  • Non-insulated glycol jacketed FV

I'm looking at a few 7 and 3.5 bbl glycol jacketed, non-insulated conical fermenters. They have a single cooling zone around the cylinder and that's the only place that's insulated. I live in the western NC so the climate is mild but summers can be hot at times and my brewery is not air conditioned. The price for these fermenters is pretty attractive so I would like to buy them if they will work. Is not having the cone insulated and cooled going to be an issue?

Will they work? Yes. There's a good reason the price is low. The cone will sweat all the time and cause your glycol system to run a lot to keep the temp stable. Would wait and get a fully insulated tank with a glycol jacket in the cone. Crashing in summer will be a challenge.
