    Seeking Assistant Cider Maker

    The assistant cider maker is responsible for overseeing and assisting our day-to-day production of cider. This position is responsible for maintaining product quality, while helping to create new and unique recipes and maintaining consistency from batch to batch. You will work closely with our head cider maker and have the opportunity to sit with our marketer and salesperson to drive and fulfill objectives and goals. You should be punctual, self-motivated and have a good sense of fun and humor. This isn’t just a job, it’s our life.

    We are offering an opportunity to come in and work towards owning part of the company and drive forward our process, technique, recipes, and orchard.

    Our team consists of a marketer/designer from the brewing industry, an area manager from the alcoholic beverage industry driving sales strategy and a beverage salesperson to carry out the marketing and sales strategy.

    Primary Purpose of Role:
    Ensuring efficient and high quality manufacture of our range of products, from apple pressing through to final blending, bottling and canning
    To assist where required in promoting our ciders in store, and at trade and public festivals


    Day to Day Duties will include, but not restricted to:
    • Kegging and Bottling
    • Yeast inoculation and fermentation
    • Monitoring and controlling fermentation
    • Racking and quality control during bulk storage
    • Sensory evaluation of products prior to, and during bottling/canning/kegging
    • Blending, filtration, and bottling
    • Laboratory testing at all stages
    • Ensuring cidery and all equipment are hygienic
    • Record keeping and planning
    • Health & Safety



    Prerequisites:
    • High School diploma including computer competency and effective written communication
    • Clean and valid driver’s license
    • Ability to work rotating shifts and adjust schedule to meet production demands
    • Ability to work both independently and with a team
    • Mechanical aptitude and creativity
    • Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 50lbs routinely



    Skills and Experience:
    • Successful science coursework and understanding of basic chemical and microbiological processes relevant to cider making
    • Minimum 1 year of hands on experience in cider, beer or wine production
    • Knowledge of sanitation principles and practices
    • Tasting experience and understanding of flavors and balance
    • Physical capability to execute production processes
    • Attention to detail to monitor ciders, control costs and keep inventory counts accurate
    • Organization skills to manage production processes according to plans and goals
    • Analytical skills to create successful plans, and to identify and solve problems along the way (knowledge of Excel is a plus, as well as the proactive use of scientific and expert resources)
