  • Hopper cu.ft. to pounds formula?

Trying to size our grain hopper, but the majority are in cu.ft. We are trying to determine how many pounds of grain this really equates to after milling? Any suggested conversion you've noticed?

    Cheers,

Well this as the response provide back in 2009

When planning our grain system I used 34# per cf for whole malt, and 27# per cf for grist. Your malt supplier (might already be on the analysis sheet) should be able to give you the actual # for the whole kernel.

    Otherwise an internet search.

Don't forget to allow for cone formation - so you need something bigger than the nominal capacity to stop it overspilling
