  • Confined gas monitoring

    Hi all,

Quick question. Does anyone here have any insight into gas monitoring for confined space entry? We are building up our safety program and have had others mention a 4 gas detector. We will not be entering any permit confined spaces ourselves as we do not have a welder qualified to do so. I know that we would have to inform a contractor doing that kind of work about our confined space protocol, but would they be responsible for gas monitoring?

    Cheers

I reached out to the SHARP folks, they were just in last week. I'd give them a call:

As it is, It's my understanding that with a 4 gas meter (as well as being able to meet the other requirements for PRCS entry) you could issue the permit to a contractor, else, they would have to be Confined Space trained in order to issue it themselves.

My .02, and it's not worth even that.

Thanks for the input. I actually have a meeting with them next. Probably a good place to ask.

      Much appreciated
