Position Summary
This position is for a head brewer / brewmaster for a new brewery operation in the San Francisco bay area slated to open in Summer 2018. The operation will be a 10-bbl brew house and will also serve food (brick-oven pizza). The owner will focus on the business and operations aspect and is looking for a partner who will manage and run the brewing operation. The owner is willing to give generous equity, and the right candidate will also be part of profit sharing. It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be entrepreneurial, have the freedom to define, experiment with various beer styles and start the commercial operation from the ground up. The goal is to grow and have multiple locations in the SF bay area with focus on on-site taproom sales.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in equipment purchase and installation guidance
Recipe formulation, all-grain brewing, cellaring and packaging
Management of day-to-day operations
Develop and maintain batch records, inventory maintenance and ordering
General brewery cleaning and maintenance
Experience with lab equipment and yeast collection
Implement and maintain necessary quality control procedures
Sourcing of raw materials, and assist with maintenance of raw material inventory
Manage tours, tastings and special events
Skills/Requirements
Previous professional brewing experience is preferred
Professional certification/degrees for brewing technology a plus
Motivated in building brewery operations from the ground-up
Passionate about and open to brewing different styles
Willing to be flexible with work schedule (nights and weekends as needed)
