    Silver Moon Brewing is hiring for the position of experienced brewer at the Redmond, OR production facility.

    The third oldest brewery in Bend, Silver Moon continues to produce beer at its 10bbl pub location and now its 30bbl production facility which started operation in 2016. Our beer is packaged in kegs, cans and seasonal 22oz bottles. 2017 brought large growth and we are looking to expand our production team with an experienced brewer. This position will develop into a swing-shift during peak production in summer.

    Duties and responsibilities
    • Daily focus on wort production on 4 vessel production brewhouse and cellar work. From raw ingredients to finished beer in brite tank.
    • Brewing: handling raw materials, wort production on 4 vessel 30bbl brewhouse, spent grain handling, and system CIP
    • Work in cellar to include: Sanitary yeast handling, tank CIP, fermentation monitoring, dry hopping, tank transfers, clarification, and accurate carbonating
    • Basic lab procedures: Cell counting, VDK testing, gravity readings, micro samples, CO2 volume, pH reading and calibration
    • Accomplishing all tasks with an eye towards efficiency, consistency, quality, and process improvement
    • Recording accurate data pertaining to job
    • Ensuring clean equipment and working environments
    • Multi-tasking and attention to details
    • Aiding team in all areas of production
    • Tracking raw material inventories
    • Pride in work with an eye towards safety and sanitation
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Specialty projects as required


    Qualifications
    • 2-5 years experience in wort production. (experience in 10k-50k bbl production brewery preferred)
    • Ability to succeed as a team as well as independently
    • Proficiency in all areas of professional beer production
    • Background in brewing science or relevant knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and mechanics
    • Safely operate a forklift and scissor lift
    • Ability to work and problem solve under pressure
    • Ability to work unsupervised


    Working Conditions
    Ability to work in loud production facility, around heavy machinery, with hazardous chemicals in damp environment. May require some flexibility in schedule. Work involves team and independent tasks.
    Physical requirements
    Ability to stand for long hours, work in a kneeling/stooped position in damp environment safely around hazardous chemicals. Ability to lift 165 pound keg. Working at heights 20 feet from ground. Perform repetitive tasks.
