Job Title: Lead Specialty & Sour Brewer
Reports to: Director of Brewing Operations

Rhinegeist Brewery is a small (but swiftly growing) four year old craft brewery based in the Over The Rhine historical neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. We have built a strong and dedicated team who believe in the power and beauty of great beer. We are looking for a Brewer to work with barrel aged, wild and mixed culture fermentations. We currently have 300+ barrels; a mix of bourbon, wine, tequila, sherry, and anything else that looks fun. For souring we will do a dozen different brands this year utilizing Brett B. in primary fermentations, mixed Brett and Lacto. in foeders, a unique house Brett and Roselare mix. Fruit and hops will be added based on desired profiles. We sell in bottle conditioned 500mL format. We are in the early stages of the program, so this position will heavily influence what we do in the future and growth overall. We want to make amazing, innovative beer and are committed to only selling the highest quality beer from this program. • Brewing, Winemaking, Food Science/Microbiology or similar degree.
• 3+ years working in production brewing/winery preferably over 20,000bbl/yr operations
• Proven leadership skills in a brewing environment
• Experience with production sour/wild program at a regional brewery
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead and manage multiple projects at once
• Be able to direct yourself and a team
• Optimize current process from grain to glass
• Conduct specialty beer production
• Assist in design and planning of specialty program
• Write and optimize recipes
• Work with QA/Sensory team to continually improve beer
• Be comfortable in production areas with pressure vessels, steam, hot water, confined spaces
• Follow OSHA regulations about Forktrucks, chemical handling, LOTO, confined space, etc
