The Potosi Brewing Company, Potosi, WI is looking to fill a full-time Cellarman/Brewer’s assistant.
Primary Responsibilities include:
• Cellar work including beer transfers and operating separator for beer clarification.
• Monitor fermentation temperatures.
• Perform CIP and sanitation on brewery tanks and equipment.
• Assist with wort production and brewing of root beer.
• Operate equipment throughout brewery including forklifts, skid steer, lifts, etc.
• Perform quality checks for ingredients to final product as outlined by the quality assurance program.
• Assist with packaging operations when required.
• Assist with shipping and receiving when required.
The ideal candidate should possess and/or have the ability to:
• Work some nights and weekends occasionally as required.
• High School Diploma
• A background in home brewing or lab science
• Basic understanding of brewing and fermentation principles including wort production, cellaring, yeast handling, and sanitation.
• Strong mechanical background.
• Understanding of quality assurance methods and techniques.
• Basic understanding of chemistry and biology.
• Good communication skills and organizational skills.
• Driver’s license
Founded in 1852, the Potosi Brewery began as a small brewery quenching the thirsts of area farmers, fishermen and miners. In 1972 the brewery ceased operations and closed its doors. The restoration of the Potosi Brewery began in 1995 when a local buyer bought the ruined Potosi Brewery Bottling buildings. In 2004, with restoration underway, the Potosi Brewery Foundation was selected by the American Breweriana Association to be the home of The National Brewery Museum ™. The National Brewery Museum is a world-class facility dedicated to preserving the artifacts and memories of America's breweries. Today, the Potosi Brewery complex includes the National Brewery Museum, The Potosi Brewery Restaurant and The Potosi Brewery Production Facility and is visited my many tourist each year from all over the world.
