Firedog Brewing Co. will be opening later this year in Hawthorne, CA near the beach cities of El Segundo & Manhattan Beach. We are looking for highly motivated people who are passionate about beer & food and who love the hop-forward styles of the west coast as well as old world, barrel-aged beers. The owners have a restaurant background and are looking for an experienced, creative Head Brewer that can take the helm on the brewing side of the operation. This will be a full time position that we expect to start mid summer. Prior to that point we will pay a consulting fee for assisting in the procurement of our brewhouse. If you work on the brew team at an intermediate to large regional brewery or a well regarded smaller operation, this is your chance to make a name for yourself.
Essential Requirements:
– Operating and managing a three vessel, 10bbl brewhouse and barrel-aging program, including all maintenance and upkeep
– Recipe development
– Managing all production, cellaring and packaging schedules
– Overseeing members of the brew team and assisting in hiring that team
– Maintain accurate and detailed production records including yield and loss summaries, brewhouse efficiencies and a consistent inventory/cost record
– Yeast management and propagation
– Oversee quality control procedures to eliminate contamination
– Manage all brewhouse operations within OSHA regulations
– Ensure an open line of communications between ownership and senior leadership
– Eager to engage the public at festivals and trade events
Qualification and Skills:
— Minimum 3+ years as a production brewer
— Experience developing a barrel-aged program
— Packaging and distribution support
— Formal brewing education and/or training
— A passion for beer quality and consistency
— Attention to detail and record keeping
— Creativity to develop new recipes and processes
Other important attributes include a deep understanding of yeast strains, hop varieties, grain varieties, and brewing with fruits and other food ingredients.
