Balzac Craft Brewing Company is a startup brewery and taphouse slated to open early fall 2018 utilizing a 10bbl system to provide mainly traditional British style ales to the local and surrounding community. We require a head brewer who has a desire to work in a lively atmosphere producing quality beer that promote the attributes of the craft beer industry. We are not a production facility so it is imperative that the individual we seek has the skill to develop and maintain proven recipes. We offer a competitive salary, performance bonus, and benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to)
• all aspects of brewhouse operations including:
milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, whirlpooling, knockout, grain Out, vessel CIP (including Heat Exchanger),
fermentation, yeast mgmt, tank cleaning and sanitizing, carbonation, kegging
• monitor cell counts, pitch rates, gravity, sampling, yeast viability measurement
• utilize pilot brew equipment to enhance recipe formulation, brewing, fermentation, taste panel
• Actively find improvements for the beer and our processes
• Maintain paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
• Participate in festivals and promotional events
• assist in conducting public tours, tastings, and interaction with brewery guests
• Must be willing to pitch in on tasks outside your key responsibilities

Requirements:
• Degree in Fermentation Science or completion of brewing-science program
• 3+ years production brewery or brewpub experience minimum
• Experience in yeast handling
• A self motivated, outgoing, enthusiastic and success driven personality
• Strong work ethic
• Team oriented but also independently driven
• Good cleaning and sanitizing abilities
• Ability to multi-task and work in a high paced environment
• Willing and looking to learn and grow with a startup brewery
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
