I have a CIP pump that I'm having issues with. It's noisy. Hearing protection required noisy. Originally I set it up with a Topline C100 pump head. It was reasonably quiet initially, but got noisier over time. On inspection, I found a light marring of the backplate, figured something had gone out of alignment and took the opportunity to upgrade to a C114 head. With the new head on, the problem persists. The motor is pretty much dead silent without the pump installed, so I don't think that's the issue. Doesn't sound like cavitation and my suction hose is a 5' length of 1-1/2", so I don't imagine that's the issue. Only other thing I can think of is something bent in the pump head, but that doesn't seem likely with a brand new head. Anyone have any ideas?

IN the case of the similar Waukesha model, you are supposed to set the extension shaft so that you have .060 clearance behind the impeller to the backplate with ALL other setup dimensions being correct including the drive collar. Once that parameter is set up correctly, it will not change and there is no reason to take the stub shaft loose for seal reaplcement which I have seen some people attempting to do in videos that are misleading. With the extension shaft loose and seal and back plate correctly in place, slide 2 - .060 feeler gauges behind the impeller and lock the shaft down with the backplate fully against the cage housing.
Remove the feeler guages and let the backplate spring back forward. If you then force the backplate fully back you will see you have the right clearance for your impeller.
