  • Brewery working with Gang Members needs VP of Operations - TRU Colors Brewing

Seeking VP Brewery Operations With Interest in Stopping Gang Violence Through Craft Beer

TRU Colors Brewing (TCB) is a very unique venture-backed backed brewery that launches in Q4-2018. The Company founders are successful startup guys (Chairman of Untappd among others) and gang members from the Bloods, Crips, and Gangster Disciples. Strange words to read in a position description, but now you’ve got to at least read on, right?

The TRU Colors’ story began two years ago when a 16-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting in Wilmington, NC (TCB’s hometown). This got one of our founders interested in gangs and wondering about the root cause of all the violence. He asked the District Attorney to connect him with the highest ranking gang member in town, and so the journey began. Crazy and amazing story, and you can find more at www.trucolors.co, or google “TRU Colors Wilmington NC” and check out some of the stories.

In Q4-2018, TRU Colors will launch its 25,000 barrel brewery that will self-distribute throughout North Carolina. The Company is well funded and well connected in the beer space, and already has commitments from customers ranging from large retailers and restaurant chains to small bottle shops and bars. In addition, because of the Company’s unique story and social impact, it’s been offered numerous major national media opportunities.

Bottom line, TRU Colors is well positioned to grow fast, but we need your help…

As VP of Brewery Operations, you’ll report into the CEO and be responsible for the design, planning, buildout and management of TRU Color’s fast-growing brewery operations. On day one, you’ll likely be a one-person show, maybe with a couple of TCB apprentices (gang members).

Also, it’s important to understand TCB is a startup run by startup guys. Pace, efficiency, and metrics are paramount, and being VP just means you have a lot going on, you have many things to figure out, and you’ll need to get your hands dirty.

Being VP of TCB’s Brewery Operations also means you’ll be starting with a clean slate. You’ll have all the resources needed to build a significant brewery, but you must have the skill and vision to make it happen. Along the way, you’ll also be changing thousands of lives through the TCB team of gang members. If both of these things don’t excite you, this position is not for you. The ideal candidate has strong leadership and management skills, is experienced running a mid-sized brewery, and has an expert understanding of all aspects of brewing operations.
