    Firestone Walker Brewing Company began as a small brewery with roots in the wine country on California’s Central Coast and brewed its first beer in 1996. We are continuously growing and are now a regional craft brewery renowned for crafting iconic pale ales and pioneering barrel-aged beers on California’s Central Coast with a singular purpose—to craft the world’s best beers.

    Job Summary:
    The Director of Retail Operations takes the company objectives and implements them down the chain of command to ensure they are completed. This position provides leadership to the General Managers at each of the three restaurant locations and Retail Center Managers, while working with ownership to oversee and coordinate the overall planning, organizing, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, profitability, food quality, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, cleanliness and sanitation and consistency of our brand. This position requires a tremendous amount of leadership ability, fiscal understanding/discipline, and a keen sense for industry trends.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
    •Primary responsibility for managing & Supervising all retail departments and managers of the Taproom Restaurants in Paso Robles, CA, Buellton, CA, and Venice Beach, CA as well as management of the Brewery Emporium, Visitor Center & Brewery Store.
    •Assist leadership in developing, maintaining, and evolving every aspect of each restaurant location; effect positive change improvements
    •Develop and/or maintain all restaurant processes, policies, and procedures
    •Oversee and guide restaurant human resource objectives by ensuring management is properly recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures; handling complaints
    •Assist leadership in developing systems to train, develop, and improve each employee and the team as a whole
    •Maintain safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, complying with health and legal regulations and maintaining security systems
    •Maintain patron satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings; initiate improvements; build relationships with preferred patrons
    •Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times
    •Oversee the ordering of merchandise and beer for the Restaurant; ensure leaders at each location are purchasing properly and costs are being controlled
    •Comply with and enforce all federal, state county and municipal regulations that pertain to restaurants, health & safety, and personnel
    •Work with the kitchen management to ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
    •Provide quality control systems and ensure best practices are implemented and are being followed
    •Ensure all equipment and property is kept clean and in good working condition through inspections and preventative maintenance programs
    •Set an example with a professional attitude and demeanor with a very hands-on approach and style
    •Keep the management team accountable, energized, and productive
    •Provide advice and suggestions to the owners as needed

    Required Qualifications:
    •Bachelor’s Degree in management or a business-related field and at least 5 years of experience managing multi-unit retail & restaurant operations.
    •Strong verbal and written communication skills and capable of communicating effectively and timely with customers, management and co-workers
    •Strong customer service and management skills
    •Team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    •Knowledge of P&L, budgeting, sales goals and forecasting
    •Basic math skills and ability to use a POS system, ability to operate a computer, and proficient in Microsoft office suite of programs
    •Must have a telephone or other reliable method of communicating with all employees. Must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; continuously maintain an open-door policy
    •Able to work a minimum of 45 hours per week; able to work flexible hours necessary to manage and operate the restaurants effectively
    •Employee must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and be able to frequently lift up to 30 pounds
    •Must reside on the Central Coast of California or in the Los Angeles area with the ability to travel between restaurant locations weekly
