We do a pretty steady amount of growler sales in our taprooms. We're considering adding crowlers for some of their obvious benefits (take to the beach, recyclability, "cool factor", etc). We are fairly certain adding crowlers would reduce growler sales, but wondering if offering both growlers and crowlers could increase overall to-go sales? I'm curious what other breweries have experienced after starting with growlers, then adding crowlers along the way? Thanks in advance for the input!

After many years of both growlers and package sales out of our tap room we added a crowler a few months ago and to our surprise it did not impact either growler sales or package in any noticeable way. I think that at least in our case the customers that fill growlers or buy package buy that for a different reason than crowlers. Just my experience.

You may want to consider that Crowler Machines are a high maintenance affair, especially if they are not kept clean by the bar staff.
They do develop problems that can amount to leaking seams if not properly taken care of " ALL THE TIME."
Our reliance on all these " gadgets " needs to be given serious pause.
There is something to be said for simplicity.
