    Position Overview & Responsibilities: The HR Manager will perform tasks associated with employee relations matters such as hiring, coaching, investigating, counseling and terminations. Responsible to provide guidance in employee relations matters, employment law, and conflict mediation for employees and managers. The role will ensure the company uses the best HR practice to meet business goals and objectives. This position will be located in New Ulm, MN.

    Major Areas of Accountability:
    Employee Relations
    • Coordinates recruitment by identifying recruitment sources, evaluating candidates, conducting interviews, and referring qualified candidates to appropriate staff members for further evaluation. Assists manufacturing plant leaders with recruitment process for their locations providing guidelines and resources.
    • Assists with the hiring selection process by determining appropriate starting pay, extending offers of employment, arranging background checks and drugs screens. Manager will analyze targeted screening and individualized assessment results and make suggestions to management for hire.
    • Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints or conduct employee work place investigations; provide recommendations on appropriate resolutions to brewery management.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of employee relation issues and incidents.
    • Provide guidance to managers pertaining to the disciplinary process or termination events, handling routine and moderate situations independently. Ensure appropriate documentation is obtained and processes are followed to minimize risk.
    • Provide interpretation to employees and managers regarding questions or concerns related to company policies and procedures.
    • Maintains all Human Resources related records, including separate file systems for personnel records, employment selection process records, I-9 forms (IRCA), affirmative action/equal employment related records, OSHA/workers compensation related records, records related to complaint investigations and employee performance issues. Ensures confidentiality and limited access according to procedure.
    • Maintains all DOT driver files and ensure random drug screening is completed in timely manner. Ensures all DOT documentation is kept up to date in DOT computer system.
    Workers' Compensation/FMLA/Leave of Absence
    • Train managers and employees in the work comp and injury reporting process.
    • Assist with ensuring appropriate administration of all leave of absence policies. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate.
    • Assist with the review and coordination of the job accommodation process and ensure alignment with ADA, state and local compliance.
    Other Functions
    • Ensures legal compliance with all federal and state regulations applicable to the human resources area such as; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). Monitors human resource processes for compliance, posts notices, maintains records, investigates and resolves employee complaints, recommends changes necessary to achieve compliance.
    • Assists with worker’s compensation and OSHA compliance programs. Through the worker’s comp. carrier, monitors the progress of employees with claims. Assists in OSHA logs and electronic submission and prepares annual OSHA summary postings.
    • Oversee orientation program for all new hires.
    • Coordinate and conduct HR process training with managers.
    • Provide guidance to managers and ensure that all company job descriptions are up to date and accurate.
    • Respond to unemployment claims and participate in unemployment hearings when needed.
    • Provides ad hoc reports to assist management in decision making. Helps to identify trends and potential issues based on HR metrics.
    • Assists office staff by providing analytics of timeclock for payroll.

    Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
    • The ideal candidate with have a 4 year degree in Human Resources Management or related field or equivalent experience; minimum of 1-3 years Human Resource Generalist experience or experience in a related Human Resources role. 2-5 years experience working with labor union contracted workers is ideal. HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred.
