    JOB TITLE: Assistant Brewer – entry level
    LOCATION: Minocqua WI
    REPORTS TO: Brewmaster
    POSITION TYPE: Part/Full Time, Hourly Employee
    SHIFT: All shifts. Possible early mornings and nights, 6am – 9pm, and weekend & holidays.

    Come to Minocqua and enjoy the beautiful lake-country, mentor under a 20 year veteran and learn the Brewing trade.
    This Job is available immediately and will run Full-time until the end of September, possibly later. It then shifts to part-time and may necessitate a lay-off for the winter. Possible work available in other parts of the brewpub depending on experience.

    Homebrew experience considered but the ideal candidate will have completed brewing school and looking for their first job. Only candidates serious about a career in brewing need apply.

    POSITION SUMMARY: Works in all Departments to operate and maintain equipment needed to manage yeast, monitor fermentation, and oversee conditioning of beer, as well as package beer in a variety of containers including kegs, bottles and growlers. Assists in a variety of aspects throughout the business as needed. Delivers beer to restaurant and cleans all draft equipment.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Self

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    •Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of MBC
    •Maintains workplace safety while upholding quality standards.
    •Continual lifting, dragging, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets, and reservoirs, requiring standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of shift
    •Sanitation of all beer contact surfaces and equipment.
    •Monitors fermentations.
    •Prepares beer for packaging.
    •Cleans and maintains bottling/kegging/canning facilities.
    •Alerts the Lead Brewers or other management personnel to potential quality concerns.
    •Standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout duration of shift.
    •Performs routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on equipment and infrastructure.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
    High School Diploma or GED.
    Homebrewing, BJCP or Cicerone experience a plus.


    MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
    •Cleaning and Sanitizing Chemicals agents and other hazardous chemicals
    •Pumps
    •Hoses, valves, clamps, gaskets, and other brewery equipment
    •Compressed air or other gasses, including C02

    •Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining safety and quality standards.

    •Ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
    •Self motivated with good time management skills.
    •Ability to coordinate with other departments according to schedule.

    •Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the brewery.
    •An understanding of lock-out/tag-out and other core safety issues.
    •The ability and aptitude to work with and troubleshoot equipment.
